My buddy insisted I'd hate 'Vinland Saga' after the first season, but finishing the second arc proved him totally wrong.

He said the shift from action to farming in season 2 would be boring, but watching Thorfinn's struggle to build a peaceful life over those 24 episodes hit harder than any fight scene for me, anyone else have a show that completely flipped on them like that?

Disagree hard, your buddy was right. That farming season was a total slog after the amazing action of season one. Watching Thorfinn stare at dirt for 24 episodes felt like a punishment, not a story. The show lost its spark when it put down the sword.

Did your friend ever give a reason why they thought that would be boring? I had a buddy who swore off Breaking Bad after season 2 because "nothing was happening," then binged the whole thing a year later and called it the greatest show he ever watched, lol.

Spot on about Vinland Saga's second season hitting different! The quiet moments, like Thorfinn finally breaking down over his past or learning to plant a seed, built up this huge weight. It made his old violence feel empty. @the_charles, I get missing the action, but did any of those slower character beats land for you? Like when he just sat with Einar and talked about their pain?
