Overheard two guys arguing about filler arcs at the bus stop yesterday

I was just waiting for the 4:15 bus, trying to mind my own business, when these two guys next to me got into it. One guy was like, 'The G-8 filler arc in One Piece is better than half the canon arcs, fight me.' The other guy just scoffed and said, 'That's a wild take, man. You're just nostalgic.' They went back and forth for like five minutes, getting super into the details of specific episodes. It was funny because they were so serious about it, but it made me think... we spend so much time talking about what's 'good' or 'bad' in anime, but it's all just our own fun, right? There's no real right answer. It's just cool that we can all get so into these stories. Has anyone else had a moment where a random anime chat made you step back and laugh at how deep we go?

It's funny how we can get so serious about stories that are just meant to be fun. In my experience, those heated talks are part of the fun, even if we all see things a bit differently. The passion is the whole point, not being right.

Exactly, the best arguments are about stuff that doesn't matter!

Oh man, totally! I had almost the same thing happen at a coffee shop last year. Two guys were arguing about whether the Bleach Bount arc was actually secretly good or just painful filler, and one of them literally pulled up a spreadsheet on his phone to prove his point about pacing. @haydenc10 you said it, the best fights are over stuff that doesnt really matter, right? It cracks me up how we can get that into it over fictional sword fights and magic powers, but honestly its what makes this hobby so great.
