Episode 8 is the one where Okabe watches Mayuri die over and over, right? See, I don't think skipping it is why you got lost later. That episode is mostly emotional gut punch, not plot. The real info dump happens in episodes 9 and 10 when they start explaining how the time leap machine actually works and what the attractor field thing means. If you skipped 8 you missed the why, but the what still comes later. My guess is you got confused because the show expects you to remember small lines from way earlier, like the stuff about the IBN 5100 or the whole SERN database thread. This show does that on purpose, it drops a tiny clue in episode 3 and then yanks it back in episode 14 like you should have known all along. So yeah, blame the rewatch, not the skip.
