Rant: dropped $120 on that glow-in-the-dark Monogatari box set and now I see it half price at every con

So I grabbed the limited edition set two years back at Anime Boston for $120 because the booth guy swore it was the last run they'd ever print. Fast forward to last weekend and I'm at a smaller con in Worcester and the same set is sitting in a bargain bin for $55, still sealed. Part of me wants to say these special editions are worth it since the art book alone is gorgeous, but the other part feels like a total clown for paying double. Do you all think limited anime merch holds any real value, or is it just bait for suckers like me?
