That time I dismissed Frieren as just another fantasy show

I ignored it for months because the premise sounded slow and boring to me. But my nephew kept pushing it, so I finally watched episode one last Saturday and cried twice. Has anyone else been surprised by a show they initially wrote off?

Three tissues in before the first commercial break and I was SO smug about it too, told my buddy "nah, not my thing." Now I owe my nephew twenty bucks because I bet him I wouldn't cry.

Told my wife she was being dramatic when she warned me. By the time the dog commercial hit, I was sniffling into my sleeve, avoiding eye contact with everyone. Borrowed my kid's sleeve when my own got too soggy. Now I just bring a whole roll of paper towels with me, cheaper than buying tissues in bulk.
