This guy at a convention corrected my take on Fist of the North Star
I was at that small anime con in Edmonton last June, and this random dude in his 40s overheard me saying Fist of the North Star is just over the top violence. He walked over and spent like 10 minutes explaining how the whole series is actually about loss and loneliness in a post apocalyptic world, pointing out specific scenes I had missed. It stuck with me because he wasn't being a jerk about it, he just genuinely wanted me to see a different side. Anyone else had a random fan change your mind on an old show like that?

My buddy actually met the Japanese voice actor at a con in Vancouver and he said the same thing about loneliness being the real theme.

Friend of mine caught him at a signing in LA and said the same thing. He mentioned the actor paused for a long time before talking about it, like it still hit him hard years later. Definitely made me rethink a few scenes after hearing that.

Friend met him two years back, said the dude looked exhausted talking about it.
