Vent: Everyone says the new 'Attack on Titan' finale was perfect. I think the original manga ending was way stronger.
The anime cut a key panel of Eren's breakdown that showed his real, ugly feelings. That detail made his character make sense. Did the cleaner animation actually hurt the story?

Remember my friend who edits indie comics? He said the same thing happened with a short film he loved. They smoothed out the main character's rough voice in the final cut, and it just made him seem bland. Does polishing something too much always backfire?

Totally get that, it's like when a house gets staged for sale. They polish everything up so it looks perfect, but you lose the real character and the little cracks that tell the story. The messy details are what make it feel true, you know?

Yeah but heres the thing I dont think its always about losing character. Sometimes the raw version is actually just bad and needs fixing. Like that voice thing barbarar32 mentioned - maybe the rough voice was grating and made people turn off the film. The problem is people treat every edit like its stripping away soul when sometimes its just making something actually watchable. Its like that old saying about knowing the rules before you break them you gotta understand whats actually broken before you can decide what messy details are worth keeping.
