Why does nobody talk about subs vs dubs when it comes to older anime from the 2000s
Back in high school around 2009 I had to pick between watching Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood subbed or dubbed because my friend group was split right down the middle. I went with subs because my buddy Jason kept saying the Japanese voice for Ed was way more emotional, and honestly I stuck with subs for like 3 years after that. But then in 2012 I rewatched it dubbed with my little brother and man, the English cast actually killed it, especially for the funny scenes. Now I look back and realize I missed out on some good dubs just because I thought subs were the only real way to watch. It feels like older fans had this weird pride about it and newer fans just watch whatever is on the streaming site first. I wonder if the whole sub vs dub thing even matters now that simuldubs come out so fast. Anyone else flip their pick years later and feel kinda silly about how serious they took it?
