A 20 year tech in Tulsa laughed at my multimeter, so I switched to a wiggy and never went back
I was checking a dryer outlet at a rental in Tulsa and pulling out my Fluke every single time, and this older guy watching me just shook his head. He said "son, you're chasing ghosts with that thing, get yourself a wiggy and you'll actually know what's live." I argued with him for ten minutes because I figured digital had to be better, but he handed me his old solenoid tester and it lit up on a leg my meter was reading as dead. Turns out the high input impedance on my Fluke was picking up phantom voltage from a parallel run, and I'd been chasing that same gremlin on and off for two years without knowing it. Now I carry a Knopp K-60 in my bag for every service call, ten bucks used on eBay, and I only pull the Fluke out when I need a real number. Any of you still running digital only, or did somebody have to embarrass you into a solenoid tester too?
