Bought a universal washer door latch that claimed to fit everything, wasted $45 and half my morning.
It was just a hair too wide for the Kenmore model I was working on, so the whole job stalled. Anyone know a good source for exact OEM parts without the markup?

Oh, that is the worst feeling. I learned the hard way to skip those universal parts ads. What finally worked for me was taking the old, broken latch down to a local appliance repair shop. They had a big catalog of OEM numbers and could match it exactly, and it was cheaper than I expected. It's worth a call to see if you have a shop like that nearby before ordering online again.

Did you have any luck finding the part number online first? I ended up doing something similar with my dryer drum roller, it was this tiny little plastic piece that cost me 40 bucks from the manufacturer. Found a little shop in town that had a drawer full of them for 12 dollars cash. The guy behind the counter even showed me how to pop it in without needing a special tool. Those universal kits are such a trap, they really are.
