Can we talk about how I used to diagnose compressor issues on fridges
I'd always start with the overload relay, but after a training session in Dallas last fall, I check the run capacitor first every single time. Anyone else find that saves you a solid 15 minutes on a call?

Totally, that order switch is huge. Started carrying a couple extra caps on the truck too, cuts down on repeat visits for the same simple fix.

Yeah checking the run capacitor first is a total game changer. I used to do the overload relay too and it wasted so much time. That switch in order saved me a bunch of trips back to the truck.

Used to think checking the overload was the smart first step, but reese_chen is right. Swapping that order and hitting the capacitor first changed everything for me. Now I rule out a bad cap in two minutes flat instead of wasting half an hour on the relay. Saves a crazy amount of time on those no-cool calls.
