Found roach eggs inside a control board in Fresno, now I check everything
Went to a call where the fridge kept shorting out. Opened the main board and there was a whole roach nest glued to the relay, eggs and all. I now pull every board cover before quoting a repair, even for simple thermostat swaps. Has anyone else found bugs inside sealed electronics or am I just lucky?

Figure out whether those roaches were coming in through the wiring conduit or just camping inside the box from day one. In my 25 years of service work, I've pulled apart boards that looked like a roach motel, but the sealed ones usually mean they got in through a gap or a bad grommet. Did you check the power cord entry or the low voltage wiring path for gaps? That's the real question here, because just cleaning the board won't stop them from coming back. If the entry point isn't sealed, you'll be back there in six months doing the same job again.
