Had a chat with an old timer about compressor oil that messed with my head
I was swapping out a compressor on a 10 year old Kenmore last week and this retired guy stopped by my van to chew the fat. He told me I was wasting my time using the fancy synthetic oil and that good old mineral oil was fine for 90% of jobs. He showed me his 30 year old service truck still packed with the basic stuff and no failures. Anyone else get told to ditch the expensive oil and stick with the classics?

Ha! Guess my fancy oil hasn't stopped me from tripping over my own extension cord yet.

Fair enough, but are you really going to just laugh that off and keep using it? Tripping over your own gear is a classic shop hazard, but if that oil is making your floor any slicker than usual, that's a real problem waiting to happen. A little slip can turn into a broken wrist or a torn rotator cuff real fast. Did you actually check the bottle for any warning about slippery surfaces, or did you just toss the receipt and move on?
