Hit 2000 dryer repairs and completely flipped on belt tension

I used to think looser tension on dryer belts was better to save the motor, but after tracking my numbers I saw way more failures on belts adjusted that way. The manufacturer spec of 1/4 inch deflection actually holds up better long term. Anybody else have a repair number that changed your mind on something?

Hate when you think you're helping and just make things worse...

Manufacturer spec of 1/4 inch deflection actually holds up better long term" - man, I learned this one the hard way too. I spent like six months doing my own "loosey goosey" method on belts thinking I was being clever, only to have three of them come back squeaking like an angry mouse within a month. Kinda embarrassing when the customer shows you the manual on their phone and you realize you've been outsmarting yourself the whole time.
