Oh man, you're making me rethink my whole setup! I've been through this exact struggle. I remember one time I was trying to assemble a cheap bookshelf from one of those flat-pack stores, and I kept stripping the heads off those little cam lock screws with my impact driver. It was so frustrating because the driver would just chew them right up before the screw even started to bite. I ended up switching to a manual screwdriver halfway through and it was like night and day. That extra control really makes a difference when you're dealing with softer metals or plastic parts. Your mileage may vary of course, but I've found that for anything smaller than a #8 screw I usually just reach for the manual one now.
