That $200 diagnostic tool I bought off Amazon turned out to be a total scam for fridge compressors

The cheap meter I got online was a no name brand for about $40. It said compressor windings were fine but they were actually open. After 3 hours of work I checked with a real Fluke and found the truth. Cost me a wasted Sunday and a lot of frustration. Those cheap testers are not worth it for serious work. Has anyone else found a decent budget option that actually works?

Ended up grabbing a Klein Tools multimeter for around $60 and it's been solid for basic compressor checks. Not as fancy as a Fluke but it hasn't let me down yet on winding resistance tests. Saved me a lot of headaches after I learned that lesson the hard way too lol.

Those cheap clamp meters ever give you a false reading on startup?
