That Whirlpool washer error code that had me chasing ghosts for 2 hours

Got a call last week for a Whirlpool WFW6620 that kept throwing F21 mid cycle. Checked the drain hose, cleaned the pump filter, even swapped the pressure switch. Then I noticed the drain pump was humming but not spinning. Turns out a kids sock was jammed in the impeller on a brand new pump someone installed wrong. Ever have a simple fix that took way too long to find?

Yep, bet the previous installer left the old pump's rubber gasket in there too.

Classic rookie mistake" - gotta push back on that a little. I've been doing this stuff for years and those F21 codes are tricky. A sock hiding in a brand new pump that someone else installed wrong? That's not a rookie thing, that's just bad luck from the last guy's shortcut.
