Unpopular opinion: The cheap universal washer pump is never worth the extra call back
Honestly, I used to keep a box of those $15 universal pumps on the truck for quick fixes, thinking I was saving the customer money. Ngl, after the third one failed within 6 months on a Whirlpool front-loader, I just started ordering the OEM part every time. The extra $40 up front saves me a 2-hour round trip drive and an angry customer later. Has anyone else just given up on the generic replacements for certain parts?

Yeah cheap pumps are a total crapshoot with Whirlpool especially. Not worth the gamble.

That Whirlpool front-loader story is exactly why I switched. @grant728, do you find certain brands are worse than others for the cheap pump failures?

Learned that lesson the hard way too. OEM parts just save so much hassle in the long run.
