DAE prune oaks in summer? Lost two big limbs after cutting in April
Cut a big scaffold limb off a red oak in my yard back in April, around the 12th. By mid June one whole side was dropping leaves and the bark was staining dark. Called a local arborist out of Lexington and he said it was bacterial wetwood, and that oaks here should only be pruned in the dead of winter. I've been doing this 9 years and never had a cut go bad like that. Do you all hold off on oaks until the sap is fully down, or is mid spring fine where you work?

Wetwood is a bacteria thing, not from pruning.
