Fiberglass pole broke on me, went back to wood after 10 years

I spent like $180 on a fancy fiberglass pole for trimming high branches and it snapped on a medium size limb last Tuesday. Totally eat the cost and went back to wood, a solid hickory pole from a local sawmill near Albany. Cost me $40 and it just feels more reliable, no flex and I can feel the cut better. Anyone else have bad luck with those fiberglass poles or is it just me?

My buddy Mike had a fiberglass pole snap on him last spring and it damn near took his eye out when it whipped back. I grabbed a 16 foot ash pole from a guy near Rutland for like $35 and its been solid for three years no question.

Oh man, that ash pole sounds like a steal. I once saw a guy try to patch a fiberglass pole with duct tape and it held for like a whole season before snapping at the worst possible moment.
