Heads up on those cheap pruning shears from the hardware store

I bought a pair of $15 pruners last spring thinking I saved money. Nope. They crushed the bark on every cut and gave my client's maple tree nasty wounds that took forever to heal. Spent $60 fixing the damage plus another $50 on a proper pair of Felco shears. Anyone else learn the hard way that cheap tools cost more in the long run?

Bought cheap ones once and ended up paying triple to fix my rose bushes.

@skyler_anderson65 hit it right on the head. My neighbor bought those cheap pruners too and now her hydrangeas look like a dog chewed on them. The blades get dull fast and start pinching instead of slicing clean. Then you're stuck with damaged plants that need extra care for seasons. Cheap tools are a gamble that most of us lose.

Learn from that mistake and pick up a good pair of Felcos like @skyler_anderson65 said.
