I finally stopped cheaping out on ropes after a rough day in Portland

Used to buy the bargain bin climbing ropes from a place in Portland to save 40 bucks each time. Last spring during a big removal, one of them started fraying bad halfway through the job and I had to call my buddy to bring a spare. Lost half a day of work and ended up spending $120 on a proper rope from the local supply shop. Any of you guys had a similar cheap gear scare?

Switching to quality rope saved me time and hassle too.

Had a buddy cheap out on rope once too. His snapped halfway through a pull-up and he landed right on his tailbone.

I mean, my buddy got a cheap rope once and it snapped mid-swing, talk about a wake-up call.
