Anyone else get stubborn with oak trying to split it, or is that just me? I used maple last winter and had way less axe time with the same size pile. The heat difference wasn't enough to make me work harder for it.

Maple burns nice but are we really drawing lines in the sand over firewood? Oak packs more heat and lasts longer in the stove, that's just science. Pick what works for your setup and call it a day.
