My $600 stump grinder blade was a total waste of money

Bought a fancy carbide tipped blade from a catalog last fall for my Vermeer. Thought it would cut through those nasty pine stumps like butter... it chipped on the third stump I hit. Should have just stuck with the standard steel ones for $200. Has anyone else had bad luck with the premium blades around here?

Standard steel is just WAY more forgiving on hidden rocks and nails.

Yeah, but $600 blades are for commercial use, not homeowner stuff.

Question whether dropping that much on a blade is overkill for trimming branches once a year. Most folks can get by with a decent $100-150 saw that'll last years without crying over a nick or dull spot. Feels like you're buying a Formula 1 engine for a trip to the grocery store, ya know?
