Question about using a 3/4 inch rope for rigging vs the old 1/2 inch
I used to swear by 1/2 inch for everything, but after a nasty swing on a big oak removal in Chattanooga last fall, I switched to 3/4 inch for primary rigging and the control difference is night and day, anyone else made a similar switch?

Yeah, I was the same way. That extra weight really does slow things down, huh?

Wait, you used to have extra weight too?

That control comes at a real cost. The 3/4 inch rope is a beast to pull back up, especially on a tall spar. I've seen guys waste more time fighting the rope weight than they saved on the rigging. For a lot of medium sized stuff, a well placed block and a slick 1/2 inch line gets it done just as smooth without killing your ground guy.
