That one storm cleanup job that paid for my whole month

Last Tuesday I got called to a property in Oakville after a microburst came through. There were three big silver maples down across the driveway and one more leaning on the garage. I showed up with my crew at 7am and we worked straight through until 4pm with just a 20 minute lunch break. The homeowner was an older lady who kept bringing us Gatorade and telling us stories about her late husband planting those trees 45 years ago. We had to use the bucket truck for the one leaning on the garage because it was too risky to climb with the power lines nearby. By the end of the day we had chipped everything, bucked the logs into firewood lengths, and ground the stumps down. She handed me a check for $2,800 and I honestly felt bad taking it but she insisted. Has anyone else had a job that just went perfectly smooth like that?

Did she ever mention if her late husband was the one who planted them in the first place?

Hugo, I have to respectfully disagree. She said the garden was already there when they bought the place, and her husband hated gardening. He was more of a fix-it guy who liked working on old cars. She replanted most of it herself after he passed, just kept some of the perennials that were already coming up.
