Digging a fence line, we hit what looks like an old bone. Crew says bury it, I say call someone. What would you do?

On a job in Arizona, we found what looked like a human femur during a dig. The boss made us stop for three days while experts came out, and it turned out to be from a old cow. That delay cost us thousands and pushed back the whole project. Sometimes you just gotta use common sense and keep moving, especially if the crew agrees it's not a big deal.

Well, my history with strange finds is a comedy of errors. I once called the city over a "historic artifact" that was just a piece of old plumbing. @henrygrant's experience with the cow bone shows how often it's nothing serious. But if your gut says to call, you should probably listen to it. A short delay beats wondering forever if you should have done more.

Henry's story about the cow bone is a good one, but the "common sense" part is tricky. Common sense for a construction crew isn't the same as the law. In a lot of places, you are legally required to stop and report possible human remains. The fine for not reporting can be way bigger than a three-day delay.
