Discovered an old Native American campsite while digging a fence post in my backyard

I live out in rural Ohio, about 30 miles south of Columbus, and last Saturday I was digging holes for a new fence. After about 2 feet down, my shovel hit something hard and I pulled up a broken arrowhead made of flint. I kept digging and found charcoal stains and a few more chipped stone pieces scattered around the dirt. Called a buddy from the local historical society who came out and said it's likely a seasonal hunting camp from around 800 years ago. Never thought I'd stumble into archaeology just trying to keep my dogs from running into the neighbor's yard. Has anyone else found artifacts while doing random yard work?

My brother-in-law always claimed there were arrowheads in his field and I kind of brushed it off. Seeing your pics from Ohio makes me think I need to take him more seriously. Were you able to keep the stuff you found?

Found a whole clay pot once digging up a bush in my own backyard.
