I thought the 'Viking' site in Newfoundland was just hype until I saw the radiocarbon dates from L'Anse aux Meadows.
The wood samples dated to exactly 1021 AD, which lines up perfectly with the sagas and convinced me it was a real Norse settlement, not just speculation. Anyone else have a find they were wrong about initially?

Honestly, that bit about the dates lining up with the sagas is so cool. Tbh, it reminds me of when they first said they found Richard III under that parking lot. I was like, yeah right, another fake. Then they showed the curved spine and the DNA match and I had to eat my words. It's wild when the science just clicks like that.

But sometimes the science gets it wrong too, you know?
