I used to laugh at the idea of finding anything in my own backyard
Last spring, I was digging a new flower bed and hit something solid about a foot down. It was a weird, smooth stone that turned out to be a Native American grinding stone from maybe 800 years ago. A local museum confirmed it, and said my area was a known seasonal camp. Now I look at every patch of dirt differently. Has anyone else found something cool just by accident?

That's wild, a legit artifact in your yard! I found an old glass bottle from like the 1920s under my porch, nothing as cool as yours. @martinez.anna, my weird rock was just a weird rock too, but your petrified nugget wins.

Ever find a weird rock that's just a rock? My big discovery was a petrified chicken nugget.

@martinez.anna that's amazing, a petrified chicken nugget is way better than any rock I've found. I pulled a rock out of a creek once that looked exactly like a curled up french fry, shaped perfectly like it was fresh from a McDonald's bag. I kept it for like two years on my shelf. @young.drew that's the kind of junk treasure we all need more of, honestly.
