Put down $600 for a ground-penetrating radar survey and it paid off big

I was digging test pits on a potential site near an old homestead in Ohio and getting nothing but bedrock and roots. The GPR guy found a buried foundation 4 feet down that saved me weeks of wasted effort. Has anyone else had luck with geophysics on a tight budget?

Is it weird how often we pay for a shortcut that ends up saving way more than it costs?

Man that's a great point. I dropped $500 on a soil test once for a backyard project and felt like I was throwing money away. Turned out the whole area had a layer of clay that would have turned my garden into a swamp. Saved me from buying a ton of plants that would have just died. It's funny how we think paying up front is painful but then the time and hassle it saves ends up being worth way more. Your foundation find sounds like a steal compared to weeks of digging blind. Sometimes you just gotta bite the bullet and trust the process.
