Unpopular opinion: I used to think the Clovis First theory was solid, but a podcast episode on the White Sands footprints changed that.

The host mentioned the footprints are dated to 21,000-23,000 years ago, which is way before the ice-free corridor opened. Has anyone else dug into the new dating methods they used?

Wait, they dated the seeds and not the actual footprints? That seems like a huge leap.

What if the dating methods are flawed?

That podcast got me looking into the seed dating they did at White Sands. I mean, they dated the ditchgrass seeds in the same layer as the prints, not the prints themselves. So the big question is, could older seeds have washed into that layer from somewhere else? The geology there is super mixed up.
