Had a talk with my neighbor about his solar panels and it made me rethink my whole electric bill
So this guy across the street got solar like 6 months ago. My wife and I always joked about it being a rich person thing. But last week he let me look at his app on his phone. He said his average monthly payment dropped from $220 to like $40. And his system cost him $14k after tax credits. I did the math in my head and thats like 7 years to break even. He said he even sells power back to the grid sometimes. I never really looked into it because I thought the numbers wouldnt work out. Now I'm wondering if I should get a quote. Anyone else here made the switch and feel like it was worth it?

Made the switch two years ago and my break even is looking closer to 5 years with rates going up like they have. It's nice knowing exactly what my bill will be every month instead of sweating the summer AC costs. Even on cloudy days I'm still pulling in enough to keep the meter from spinning backwards.

Ha! @white.alex must be one of those sunny day guys. I've got a buddy whose panels got buried in snow for a week.
