Had to pick between my ex's wedding invite and a free trip to Vegas last spring

I chose Vegas, spent 3 days losing at blackjack and eating $1 hot dogs, and honestly I think I made the right call has anyone else dodged a weird social obligation like that?

Respectfully, I see it different. Watching your ex get married while you're down $200 on a five dollar blackjack hand doesn't sound like winning to me. A weekend at the buffet and a craps table isn't exactly the flex it's cracked up to be.

Buddy of mine had a similar choice last year. His ex's destination wedding in Mexico or a buddy's bachelor party in New Orleans. He picked New Orleans, ended up getting a stomach bug from a gas station po' boy on day one and spent most of the trip watching his friends hit Bourbon Street from a Super 8 bathroom floor. Meanwhile his ex posted wedding pics where she looked genuinely happy and the food looked amazing. He still says he made the right call but I'm not so sure.
