I keep seeing people ask questions in the wrong way here... it makes a big difference.

Try rephrasing your question to be more specific.

Yeah, I get where pat is coming from. I've been on forums where you ask something general and just get crickets. One time I asked for advice on fixing a wobbly ceiling fan and got three replies just saying "be more clear." Honestly, it feels like you need to write a whole manual just to get a simple answer. Makes you not want to ask at all sometimes.

Yeah, you mentioned "three replies just saying 'be more clear'" and honestly that bugs me too. But I think the problem is people on forums expect you to already know the unwritten rules. Like with that ceiling fan thing, maybe they didn't know the specifics themselves and just defaulted to that lazy response. I've noticed when I reply with even a tiny bit of detail like "check the screws on the mounting bracket" it usually gets a follow up question instead of silence. Of course you shouldn't have to write a manual, but sometimes one extra sentence can save the whole thread. Do you find that adding a photo helps too?
