My electric bill jumped 40 bucks and I found out why
I noticed my electric bill went up $42 last month compared to the same time last year. Turns out my state, Ohio, raised the delivery fees by 12% back in April and I missed the notice. I found the buried line item when I actually read through the bill breakdown. Anyone else get hit with a silent rate hike they didn't catch right away?

Actually I think the 12% figure might be a little off. I checked my own Ohio bill after seeing your post and the delivery fee went up more like 10.5% depending on which part you're looking at. They split it between distribution and transmission charges, so you gotta add both to see the real hike. Still sucks either way though.

Good catch on the split charges... everyone just sees the total delivery fee and assumes it's all one lump increase, but they're sneaky with how they break it down.
