My morning coffee routine had the water temp all wrong for 9 years
I always figured boiling water straight off the stove was fine for pour over. Then I watched a barista in Portland use a thermometer and saw the water hit 205 degrees, not 212. Turns out I was scorching the beans the whole time and blaming the roast. Has anyone else had a basic habit completely flipped by one tiny tool like that?
Knew a guy who spent years hating his oven because everything came out wrong, turned out his oven ran 25 degrees hot the whole time. One cheap thermometer fixed years of bad dinners. It's funny how we blame ourselves or the ingredients when it's usually just one small thing we never checked.
