PSA: I stopped pre-rinsing dishes before the dishwasher and saved 20 minutes a day
For years I thought you had to scrub every plate clean before loading the dishwasher. My mom always did it that way so I just assumed that was the rule. Then last month my machine started leaving weird white spots on everything. I called a repair guy out to my place in Austin and he told me I was literally washing the detergent's job away. He showed me the manual which said to just scrape off big chunks and let the machine do the rest. Now I just toss stuff in with the crusted-on eggs and baked cheese and it all comes out spotless. Has anyone else been doing extra work for nothing because of old habits?

My buddy had the same thing happen with his fridge last year. Guy came out, did the whole diagnostic thing in like 15 minutes, said it was just a clogged drain line. Charged him the service fee but told him to just pour hot water down it once a month and it'd never happen again. Been a year now and the fridge is still running perfect.
