That $8 tour of the Alamo was way too short for what it's supposed to be

I finally went to San Antonio last month and the actual tour of the building itself felt rushed, like they crammed 10 minutes of history into 4. Anyone else feel like historical landmarks are selling you a gift shop instead of the real experience?

...and see that's the thing, it's not even about getting worked up over 4 minutes specifically. It's more like that 4 minutes could have been so much better if they let you actually take your time and read the displays instead of pushing you through like cattle. I get that they have to keep tours moving, but at the Alamo you barely get to stop and look at anything before their guide is already telling you to move to the next spot. They crammed so much info into such a short time that I forgot half of it before I even left the building. And then of course they funnel you straight into the gift shop where everything costs like $15 for a little magnet or keychain. Feels like the real history is just the excuse to sell you stuff these days.

Is a 4 minute tour really worth getting worked up over though?
