That Tuesday in March when a random guy at the DMV answered 40 questions about my old truck and saved me $300
I went to the DMV in Reno last month to register my 1998 Tacoma and a retired mechanic in line started telling me which forms I could skip to avoid the $300 late fee, which I never would have figured out from the website. He walked me through the whole thing, even pointed out that my insurance card had the wrong VIN, and I was out of there in 25 minutes instead of the 3 hours I had planned for. So what's the most useful thing a total stranger has told you while you were both just waiting somewhere?
