The time I realized I was making coffee wrong for like 15 years

I always pre-ground my beans and stored them in the freezer, thinking that kept them fresh. Then a barista at a shop in Portland asked me when I bought the bag and I said "two months ago" - she winced so hard. She explained that freezing ruins the oils and pre-ground means all the flavor is gone in 30 minutes. Has anyone else had a habit they thought was right but turned out to be totally backwards?

Oh isn't that the truth, seems like most of us are doing simple things wrong without even knowing it.
