Oh man, that reminds me of the time I asked my cousin how work was going at her own wedding. Forty minutes later I knew about her boss's bad back and the new office coffee maker. GraySullivan has a point about it being real talk, but there's a time and a place, you know? I was just trying to get to the buffet.

Really though, is that the worst way a party conversation can go? At least you know they're being real with you. Sometimes people just need to let that stuff out, and a simple question is all it takes. Better than talking about the weather for an hour, right? Couldn't it just be someone having a rough week?
