A guy at the courthouse in Tulsa asked the judge for a 60 day extension because he 'needed time to read his own contract' and the judge just granted it
I was sitting in small claims court in Tulsa last Tuesday waiting on my own case when I heard this. The judge asked why he didn't read it before he signed, and the guy said his cousin sold him the car and the papers were 'longer than a phone book.' The judge gave him 60 days anyway and moved on to the next case. Now I keep wondering if people ask attorneys for extensions just to buy time, or if there's a real reason a judge would go along with that. Has anyone seen a judge do this where it ended up mattering later?
Honestly the part that got me is the papers were "longer than a phone book" like sir that is a wild thing to admit out loud in front of a judge. And he just handed him 60 days anyway? Ngl that feels less like the judge believed him and more like he didn't wanna deal with it that day.
