Hot take: I chose an aggressive lawyer over a nice one and it actually worked out better

I had to pick between two attorneys for a property dispute in Denver. One was super friendly and explained everything calmly, the other was a total bulldog who barely returned my calls. I went with the aggressive guy because the other side had a big law firm. He got my neighbor to settle after 6 months instead of dragging it out for a year. Sometimes nice doesn't cut it when the other side plays hardball. Has anyone else taken the mean lawyer and regretted it or been glad they did?

Wait, he barely returned your calls and you still picked him? That would have freaked me out honestly. But I guess it worked out so you made the right call for your situation!

Funny thing about that "barely returned my calls" part. In my experience, that can sometimes mean the lawyer is actually busy working on your case instead of holding your hand. A lot of people equate quick callbacks with good service but that's not always true. Your guy might have been spending that time digging into your neighbor's weaknesses or drafting a nasty settlement letter. My mileage varies, but I've seen those smooth talkers drag things out because they're too scared to ruffle feathers.
