My paralegal says you should never sign a lease without a lawyer, but my cousin rented for 6 years with no problems
I was at a family dinner in Boise last week and my cousin mentioned he signed his 4th apartment lease without ever having a lawyer look at it, and my paralegal friend just about lost it. She says a standard lease can hide a joint liability clause that makes you pay for a roommate who skips out, but he says he has never had a landlord pull anything shady. So who is actually right here, is reviewing every lease overkill or is skipping it asking for trouble?
