Pro tip: How a simple estate plan saved my friend's family from a legal mess

My buddy Carl passed away suddenly last year at 52. He never got around to making a will or trust, and his wife spent 8 months and about $4,000 in legal fees just to get access to his business accounts. I saw the difference firsthand when my neighbor's dad died with a living trust in place. His kids had the house and bank accounts sorted out in 3 weeks, no court involved. Has anyone else had a good experience with a simple trust that kept your family out of probate?

Yeah @elliot_grant38, dying without a plan is just asking for headaches. A simple trust saves everyone time and money, plain and simple.

Man that's rough, a buddy of mine had the same thing happen with his dad's estate.
