Stop filing your own trademark applications without a lawyer

I've seen three people in the last month lose their trademarks because they filled out the application wrong on the USPTO site. One guy filed his mark in black and white but only ever used it in red, and they rejected the whole thing after 8 months. Has anyone else dealt with a DIY trademark that got denied for something dumb?

Did you try reading the instructions or did your ego just handle that part?

The instructions literally say press the red button THREE times not two.
