Tried to handle a probate case myself and it blew up in court

My uncle passed away in Phoenix last year and left a small house to me and my cousin. I thought I could save money by filing the probate paperwork myself since the house was only worth about $180,000. Big mistake - I missed a creditor notice deadline and now the whole thing is held up in court for another 6 months. Has anyone else tried DIY probate and regretted it?

Why risk losing a house to save a few bucks on a lawyer?

Oh wow you're hitting on something big here... it's not just about saving money, it's about people thinking they can handle stuff themselves because they watched a few YouTube videos. That "DIY" mindset gets dangerous when you're talking about legal stuff that can take your whole house away. I've seen folks try to draft their own contracts and end up in way worse shape than if they just paid a lawyer upfront. Seriously, paying for a good lawyer feels expensive until you need a great one to fix a mess you made saving pennies.
