Watched a client lose everything because of a DIY custody form.

Last year I sat in family court waiting to testify on a job, and this guy next to me had his whole case thrown out because he used a free template off the internet for his parenting plan. The judge said it didn't cover shared expenses or holiday schedules, so now he's back to square one and paying double in lawyer fees. I always thought you could save money doing your own paperwork, but seeing that happen made me realize some things you just hand off to a pro. Has anyone here seen a DIY legal form backfire in a big way?

Oh man, a friend of mine tried using a DIY will kit and her kids ended up in a huge fight because it wasn't specific enough for her state's laws. It's one of those things where you really do get what you pay for, in my experience.

Did they at least notarize it with witnesses in the room?
