Bought a $200 light pollution filter for my DSLR and it made my Milky Way shots worse
I shoot from my backyard in Cincinnati where the light dome is bad, so I grabbed a clip-in filter that was supposed to cut the orange glow. Instead it turned every star into a weird green halo and ate about 2 stops of light, so my 20 second subs came out dim and muddy. Anyone got a filter that actually works for city astrophotography, or should I just drive 90 minutes out of town instead?
Man, that 90 minute drive is sounding pretty good right about now, because no filter is gonna fix a light dome that big. Save the 200 bucks next time and put it toward gas, you'll get way better shots.
